How to Control Tinnitus

December 29th, 2009

I wanted to share with you how you can gain control over tinnitus. If you don’t know what the word means, it actually refers to the phenomenon of somebody hearing ringing sounds that are not caused by outside sources.

You hear a ringing sound that is not caused by actual external noise. Living with this condition–constant sound–can be stress-inducing and debilitating. There’s no relief from the condition, even when you are trying to sleep.

For you not to have tinnitus as a life problem I wanted to show how you can gain control of it. Although the doctors have some theories as to the cause of tinnitus, it is most likely due to an exposure to a loud environment.

War veterans often suffer from this condition due to the extreme level of noise they experience. The medical community offers surgery as the cure. The result is an operation on your ear which may be dangerous.

You could wake up and hear nothing, but then again it could be that the ringing will have not have stopped. It is possible to control tinnitus by ignoring it. Reality check tells us that our brain is trained to do these things. Currently there are millions of sensations that stimulate all of the senses you have.

So your brain filters what you’re going to smell, taste, see, hear, and feel, obviously your conscious mind can’t be bothered with all of them. Available therapy can teach you to use your unconscious mind how to ignore the ringing.

A very basic exercise can produce results with it. On reading the newspaper with intense attention, you should realize that you are not hearing any ring. If you keep that up, your mind will eventually not even acknowledge the tinnitus.

Repetitive exposure to loud music especially in nightclubs, unhealthy food and lifestyle are notable reasons for tinnitus amongst teenagers.

The information provided is for research purposes only. No medical advice is implied. As with any condition it is best to consult a doctor before taking any medical advice.
